Apparently some of the weirdest spanish names are of germanic visigoth or ancient roman origin and are still prevalent in the most rural regions, where fashion sense regarding names remained unknown throughout ages. I wonder if this kind of names are also common in latin america or the conquistadors didnt consider the natives to be worthy of bear nothing but vulgar names - Jose, Juan, Ramon, etc..
