OK, time for the semi final predictions and with a new-found confidence.

I fully expect Holland to see off Uruguay who, let's be honest, were pretty lucky to win against Ghana. With Wesley Sneijder pulling the strings I'm going for a 3-1 win to la máquina naranja.

Much harder to predict the Spain - Germany game. Germany have looked pretty unstoppable over the tournament whereas Spain have stuttered at times. However, Germany need possession and they will find that hard to come by. Torres has done nothing but Villa is on a hot streak so I expect him to get the first goal and then Spain just to keep the ball away from the Germans. My only concern is Puyol who I think is the vulnerable point in the Spanish defence.
Spain 1 - 0 Germany.

I just can't decide if this is real or not. What's the considered opinion of the group?

The no-hands used in soccer and later on atrophiating so you won´t be able to hold a gun and defend yourself argument is just hilarious surrealism.

He is definately an hoax comedian, pretty good one too, the best one since Borat.

He has to be.

Have you noticed that Billy Bob's average rating is only about 2 stars out of 5? Well he deserves 5 stars so I think a lot of people don't realise it's a joke and just believe it's some idiotic redneck coming out with loony views.

I just loved the "Mexican's from Brazil" line.

Well today's predictions:

I'm going for BillyBob's ugly named Uruguayans to win 1-0 over the European satanic Dutch team!! He is something else!

Then tomorrow it's going to be: Germany 1 - Spain 2....hopefully.
Going to get my seat early in one of the Spanish bars and cheer them on and hope my German neighbours have a disappointing night.

We've got Paul el Pulpo on our side:

Uruguay 1 - Holland 1 (Holland on penalties)
Spain 3 - Germany 1

(Germany as of today looks superior but, hopefully, Spain will finally click into gear at this point and deliver the beautiful football the team is known for and it hasn´t been able to produce in the tournament so far).

BTW, I googled for BillyBob's profile and it comes out, as I was expecting, he is a profesional comedian from North Carolina. His real name is Paul Day and he came up with the satiric character of Billy Bob Neck in 2004 in a comedy night to raise funds for John Kerry's presidential bid. He's got various hilarious vids in the internet that show he is a truly comedy genious. Bring it on Billy Bob!!!.
God is Love .

Awesome inverse-rigth prediction Eldeano.
Puyol was the 'vulnerator point' but on the german defence.
lol

Yuni, I'm particularly proud of my occasional inverse-right predictions . Anyway, Puyol is like a unwashed Skoda on the forecourt of a Porsche dealership - a scruffy reliable alternative but which sometimes performs above/below their normal ability. Last night was above. Let's hope Sunday will be too.

As for the final, I think it will follow a similar pattern. Spanish possession seeking out the killer ball to Villa, goal, and then more passing. As Holland would then take more risks maybe another goal (or two) on the counter attack and possibly a late consolation for the Dutch.

Spain 3 - 1 Holland

When Spain win it's always 1-0 it seems. So I'm going for Spain 1 Holland 0.

On the phone-ins in the UK today there's quite a few people who think Spain are a bit boring. I think they have a point. If every English Premier League club played like Spain the league wouldn't be the most popular in the world. It's all about keeping the ball with Spain. They strangle teams by not giving them much opportunity to create chances. There's no pace about the way they play until things speed up in the last third of the pitch. Poor as England are at keeping the ball they would be a lot better if they slowed down to Spain's speed.

And Holland concentrate first on keeping the ball so I'm not sure it's going to be a great final. In rugby league they have a thing called the 6th tackle rule where if a team doesn't score in 6 tackles the ball has to be given over to the opposition. The way things are going in football perhaps we'll need a 30 second rule where if one team hasn't at least got into the opponent's penalty box then they have to give the ball to the other team.
