Well done Ben and Marina. Don't know how you manage to fit it all in but thanks from us out here in the virtual world.

Default Children learning Spanish?

I have an 11 year old son (12 tomorrow!) who would like to chat on the forum with other children in Spanish. I don't know how this would work but he could start a children only thread and see how it goes?

The subject definitely does not have to be Spanish related because I know he would particularly like to talk to children in the US about life there. All things 'American' really fascinate him at the moment.

So, if you have children learning Spanish who might enjoy the slow pace of conversation on the forum please post and when we return next week I'll let him sign up. Spanish is a core subject at his school so he might be able to persuade others to join too.

Hear hear! I only discovered this site a couple of weeks ago but I already love it. Congratulations, and keep those podcasts coming!

Sounds like a great idea! Maybe the thing to do is to start a thread with an appropriate subject in the Spanish section of the forum, something like 'Tengo 11 años...' or whatever, and if this takes off we could seperate off another section of the forum especially....

And thanks Edith too!

That is true, could be for any number of reasons though. It does seem to be the same old faces on here which could put newcomers off i.e. makes it look a bit too clubby. Time will tell.

I think it is a factor on any forum, nothing to worry about. There is always a percentage that post regularly and some that register then never post. With time the number of posters will always increase.

Wikipedia has something interesting to say on the topic of lurkers - people who read a forum/newgroup but rarely participate. As a lifelong lurker I don't consider this a bad thing at all. In fact in the good old days it used to be considered good netiquette to lurk for a while before posting.

Alan, to (casi) quote Abe Lincoln: Sometimes it is better to not post and be thought a fool, than posting - and proving it. (In no way of course could this possibly apply to very erudite posters to the forum)
