Default Baltasar Lobo

An interesting collection of huge bronze sculptures is currently touring southern Spain the artist is Baltasar Lobo born in Zamora 1910 died in Paris 1993. Whilst attaining an international reputation he is regarded as less known within Spain, perhaps in part to his exile to Paris for reasons of the Civil War. In Paris his mentor was Picasso and his work surrealist and striking.

The bronzes on display reflect images of both “mother and child”. The tour which started in Malaga is funded by La Fundación Unicaja and is currently on prominent display behind la Caleta in Cádiz until mid June, with plans for further exhibitions later in the year in Huelva, Ronda, Antequera and Almería.
I took some time out from the motor bike invasion to see it and was impressed. Here is a link with some photos of these huge bronzes in situ in Cádiz.
