7am on a sunny Sunday, spring is here- it arrived on Tuesday when every cherry blossom tree in the town exploded in to colour - welcome to the industrial North of England.
My whippet is in the bottom left hand corner of the shot (its a labrador - times have moved on).
The tree is growing in the middle of what was the canal that linked Barnsley and Wakefield up to about 50 years ago. We are less than a mile from the town centre.

John, Very different from earlier this year. However from the news this morning, on TV Galicia, it seems there is a lot of snow over your way again.

Prefer some snow than all this rain. However, I've started ignoring the forecasts. The other day I was watching TV and live forecast for this area was rain and 10 degrees. I looked out the window and it was clear skies, sunny and 18 degrees.

I know what you mean. I am also having a "discussion" on another forum about weather sites in Spain. all a totally useless. Today in Galicia the TV siad it was going to be rain, snow in the mountains with thunder storms.

Here is a photo taken today of the misses taking a photo of me taking her photo; along the River Sil. Note the blue sky, which is still here.

Gary, Your post had me running to Google maps as I used to live in Horbury (100's of years ago or so it seems now.) I was looking some good memories of the area.

Two very different images of the Basque country. Both taken on the same week, the first in Laguardia in Alava, the second at the public service workers march in Bilbao on May 25th.

On a technical note, how do I make these bigger on the page?
Many thanks.

@dimonió - linked from Flikr photostream - right clicked photo and copy location into
http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4033/...d6844dff_m.jpg

does not seem to work from individual photo, although I´ve managed to do it before!
PS after looking in Flikr forum!
open photo, click on "all sizes" above it (this now medium size)
copy link URL & post as before

Good luck!

Puente de la Zurriola, San Sebastián. I waddled across here a few times between the pintxos bars in Gros and those of the old town!!

Also discovered Patxaran - alcoholic benylin. Fabulous stuff.

Taken at the Thursday afternoon card school at the Café Moderno, Logroño. Love the old coffee machine on the wall.

Oooooh yes I love it too...

Just bought home a bottle of Zoco patxaran as a thankyou present for my friend walking the dog whilst I was away - they love sloe gin and anis - this is all the best of those in a single drink!!

Do you prefer it chilled or room temperature??

Hi Gary, I've only tried it chilled, but can imagine it tastes even more like Benylin at room temperature! Will find a bottle next month and try it that way when we are back.

Eventually. 2 levels of underground car park full to the brim with water and mud. Ours was the last out. Its a right-off and the insurance doesn't cover 'natural disasters'.

Not surprising considering this is our street. All happened so quickly.

Amazing - I'm really sorry to hear about the car. What caused this to happen so suddenly?!

One of these apparently.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cold_drop

Combined with a week of solid rain, high tide 15kms down the coast.

Happened at 9am. Good job it wasn't in the middle of the night.
