Default 700...and rising

Tonight the forum membership reached 700 - formerly new membership has averaged 100 per month - the latest 100 have enrolled in the last 15 days... congrats to Ben and Marina.

The Madrid party is slated to celebrate the 1000 members, we could even make it by the new year at this rate!!!!!

Is this figure (currently 701) accurate? If you click 'Members' (above) it lists only 632 members (on 16 November a.m.) although showing 701 on the forum homepage. Does this figure include those who have quit their membership?

Good question. The missing 68 might be spammers whose accounts I have deleted, but I'm not sure... puzzling indeed!

I would imagine that the database doesn't decrement the membership when you delete accounts. Typically, each member account is given a member number when they register, and this number keeps increasing with each new member. If the newest member is #352, and you delete #78, the next new member will still be #353. The holes aren't likely to be filled in.

The latest member to join, no 702 as reported, has a database number of 858. This number appears in the Explorer status bar if you 'mouseover' members' names.

There are likely to be many thousands who use & download some of the podcasts. Its only when people become real aficionados of a particular site that they consider even reading, let alone joining its forum. This forum always has far more guests logged on at any one time than members (assuming most members don't log off NIS when they are not online).

Ben?
Each NiS Advanced podcast, for example, is downloaded by around 6,000 people within the first couple of weeks, but this number rises with time, so that, for example, those that are a couple of months old rise to about 11,000 downloads. So I guess not all of those register in the forum!

More stats. For the month to date, i.e. oct 16th til today, according to google analytics, notesfromspain.com including blog and forum (not including nis.com) has had over 110,000 page views, a lot of which is from the forum. And I'm pretty amazed/delighted/happy with that!
