Default Who will be number 1 in Dave's top ten NFS Spanish celebrities? I predict...

... Belen Esteban. Who else could it be?

How funny! Just done a web search on her! Sorry to disappoint, but don't place your bet just yet. I'd never heard of Belen Esteban before you mentioned her, so I'm afraid I can tell you that she won't be Number 1.

OK, No more give-aways from me! You'll have to wait an see in a couple of days.

Ok, she was all over the corazon shows like a rash when I was there. Maybe the prensa rosa have got bored with her, at last!

I admit I'm racking my brain as to who the top three might be. I'd have chosen Ana Obregon and the Duquesa de Alba, but they've already gone.

I know, Isabel Pantoja?

Could be! She was on the front page of one magazine just last week, and she does beam into our living rooms on a nightly basis, raising her profile somewhat.

Mind you, is there enough room on the blog to squeeze in a picture of her enormous jaw-line! jeje

Again, another front runner maybe, so I can see where you're coming from. She is pretty big, I admit, but does she have what it takes to be crowned the winner??

I'd be surprised if Penelope Cruz wasn't in the top 3.

They've clearly toned it down in that foto with a clever angle and sophisticated 21st Century make-up techniques! jeje

When you see her on "Gente" facing the camera square-on, it's quite off-putting at times!

Mind you, I suspect you're also probably looking at her other enormous features so the jaw issue is just a drop in the ocean!

haha! I'm gay anyway, so it wouldn't whip-up a froth in my coffee!!

PS. I actually met Linda Lusardi in the 80's when she was signing autographs in JD Sports in the Manchester Arndale centre. Ooooh, the glamour!

PPS. Thinking about it now, that's probably the point when it all started to go wrong for me and my preferences went off the rails! jejeje

You've never seen Sonia Ferrer? Wow, indeed. Just what country do you live in Ben? jejeje. (Your secret is out now! You're obviously running the Notes from Spain empire from a bedsit in Croydon. )

No, it's just years of avoiding the gossip mags and tv because the former are far too confusing and the latter give me an instant headache! The young lady above may just get me watching tele again though, and your top 10 has certainly helped clear some of the confusion... so, I'm off to pick up a copy of Hola and 10 minuots! (actually, what is the best gossip mag in Spain?!)

Maybe that's Pepino's next project; Top 10 Gossip Mags in Spain.

I think I've obviously found my niche!

The selection on offer is pretty much all the same, and you can read the same stories and see the same pictures in almost any of them.

Hola stands out slightly I guess as it has the deepest pockets, and therefore it can pay for more true "exclusives", but the style of the interviews is just way too insipid for me. It's very "lovey-darling" and never says a bad word about anyone. No one looks that good all the time! jeje

"¡Qué me dices!" is at the opposite end of the scale, and is more trashy (relatively speaking) and you're more likely to find pics of Britney Spears drunk in this mag. (Although, the rough pics like this always seem to be of the foreign celebs, and you don't see home-grown "talent" being shown-up badly). Overall, compared to British tabloid mags, it's still incredibly tame though.

Then there's a whole swathe of middle-ground mags. The likes of Semana, Lecturas, Diez Minutos etc. So if you want a fair round-up of what's going on, then these are probably your best bet. Lots of decent pictures, interviews with the famosos and comments on what people have been wearing lately.

It's all very low-brow superficial stuff though. Don't expect investigative journalism in any of them

I'm quietly confident. But will having your husband killed by a bull and your boyfriend looking at a long stretch in carcel prove to be enough?
