Default video blog

hi all- well, i've decided to take the double plunge. i joined the forum a few days ago AND for some inexplicable reason mustered up the courage to take ben's advice and try my hand at a video blog so if anyone wants to see me stammering away, it's on youtube for the world to see. i'm preparing for an oral spanish exam so my reasoning is... one of the main factors to get over is nerves, right? well, what better way to get over it than put yourself out in the public arena? obviously other motivations are to improve vocabulary and fluency. anyway, thanks to notes in spanish for the inspiration! nos vemos...

Great great great, a response is on it's way in seconds! By the way you can post the vids directly in the forum (instructions here), so here again is yours, and ours is to follow as soon as youtube processes it:

You may, I hope, have just started the NIS vidblogging movement!!

You two make it all seem so easy, but then you are old hands at podcasting so it's only to be expected. Of course, we all want to know what Marina was about to say at the very end. Nothing to do with tocapelotas, I hope.

Hi Eric,

Here there are some corrections:

Lo que hago por la primera vez
- Es la primera vez que lo hago.
Tengo un objetivo lo que es... - Tengo un objetivo y es que...
He seguido leyendo mucho las páginas web... - He leído muchas páginas web...
Es muy muy bien - Está muy muy bien.
Corrige la pronunciación de EntrenArme.

Eldeano,

I used to drive Ben mad because I tended to speak straight away after recording the podcast, which made it more dificult for him to edit the final part. I think Ben found the final bit of the video funny and decided to leave me wondering if I had look at Ben far too much instead of looking at the camera.

Eric, te admiro por lo que has hecho. Estoy segura que sigas un A+ de todos en el foro. Buena suerte en tu examen

Marina/Ben: I loved stumbling upon this sudden unexpected chance to actually watch the two of you together; it's apparent that ultimately it's your fantastic rapport and the way in which you relate together that makes your podcasts so sublime; I don't want to embarass you or make you self conscious...but having the chance to actually WATCH you while you talk together....well..that was a treat. Is it too much to hope for MORE of a VERY GOOD THING?

Deano: "Tocapelotas" - ¿Que quiere decir?

And now I'm going to watch both videos again!

For ten points, why did Marina laugh when I said the tree was a 'castaña' and not a 'castaño'?!

Isn't that something to do with a way women wear their hair - or is it a load of rubbish?

Not quite... 'Menuda castaña' o 'es una castaña' = 'es una mierda/no funciona bien...'

Creo que Deano tiene razón..es decir:
Castaña = Chignon:
(a bun or knot into which the hair is twisted)
Castaño = Horsechestnut Tree

It's not a knot/I see a tree

That end bit is really funny, Ben's right! And what was it you were saying "Creo que we have been very..." Perfect example of Spanglish in it's natural setting! jeje

The video blogs are great by the way. Thanks to Eric for setting the ball rolling! I feel I should overcome my camera shyness and have a stab myself!
