¿Quieres cambiar algo en tu casa?

Hace dos semanas me mudé y por tanto hay cosas que me gustaría comprar para hacer mi habitación más acogedor. La habitación está en la esquina del edificio y tiene dos balcones que dan en dos calles distintas.

La primera cosa que necesito es un sillón. Me gustaría sentarme con la puerta abierta y leer, ver pelis o a lo mejor echar una siesta.

La segunda cosa sería una alfombra. En el verano no me importa andar en las baldosas frias, pero en el invierno no me quiero hacerlo.

Ya hay un armario doble y muchas estanterías, y no tengo muchas cosas así que no necesitaré mucho más. La cama es comoda, hay una tele pequeña y tengo mi portátil.

Aparte de mi piso, quiero cambiar otras cosas en mi vida tambien. Voy a empezar a hacer intercambios otra vez, y ya he empezado a estudiar más. Y por último necesito comprarme ropa nueva!

I think I would be an Advanced learner, but still the beginner's podcasts are what I'm finding useful at the moment. There is always something there that I have never heard before.

I hope that I am not killing these threads by posting my non-beginner Spanish. I need to be made to do the homework as much as anyone. Come on beginners, please post your homework too.

Certainly not a native speaker, or anything near it, but I can see a few small errors, but overall it looks very good.

"Dar a" something, not "dar en". Que dan a dos calles...
Cómoda and también both have accents.
no me quiero hacerlo. Not sure here, but is the "me" redundant??? We need a native!

I try and write these without looking anything up, hence the "dar en" error. I only cheated once this time, to find the word for Tiles. I had no idea.

Accents, bah! who needs 'em. I am currently corresponding by email with someone who just ignores them and it makes the sentences very confusing sometimes.

ME! And since you have used them everywhere else, I assumed it was an omission on your part. It's no big deal, lots of Spanish don't use them, but for us beginners, as you say, it can be confusing!

With you living there, you'll pick up a lot more phrases, slang etc than I ever will, so whilst it looked weird to me, I thought it might possibly be something you had picked up.

You're welcome. The first thing I ask a Spanish person is please, correct my Spanish. However, at times I feel a bit "quisquilloso" here, as very few others seem to offer any corrections. I'll have to stop myself!

No - please don't stop as lots of us read & learn from your input.
I do have a go at correcting some of the more obvious ones and learn each time as I usually check before writing. Making style suggestions is much harder - even if it sounds "wrong" I often don't know where to find a better way of saying it.
Now I'm off to look up "quisquilloso"

Some might say 'nit-picking' but it helps us all. We're too chicken because we're not confident enough (most of the time).

Honestly it is something I would recommend to anyone desiring to learn spanish. Ben I also think you are an excellent teacher at dis-arming people in to thinking how fun the process can actually be.

Si, voy a cambiar muchas cosas en la casa, actualemente mi novia y yo hemos comprado un piso nuevo. (how would i say ´they havent finished building it yet´). Hemos elegido los azuleros para el cuarto de baño y la cocina, el baño y ducha y tambien la cocina, hay una cocina muy bonita en IKEA en rojo que es rojo brillo. Todavía necesitamos elegir los muebles y pintura.

Estoy solo aprendiendo beginner Español pero quizas esté "Ya (o todavia?)no han terminado a construir mi piso...".

La primera cosa que debería decir está que me gusta mucha nuestra casa. Pero si podría cambiar unas cosas pequenas yo cambiaría nuestros dos sofas para uno o dos más comfortable y que quedan más bonitos.

Tambien me gustaría mucho que tengamos más armarios en la cocina porque no hay bastante sitios para todos nuestras platos.

Al final tambien me gustaría que cuelgue más fotos en la paredes. Me gustaría que nuestra paredes están mas util y que contribuyen más a la belleza de la casa in lugar de estar tan vacio

I listened to this podcast this morning - I know, better late than never.

Both Ben and Marina came out with the phrase '¿Qué cambios te gustaría que hacer...?' I think I've probably gone brain dead because I thought that gustaría should agree with cambios, hence I would have said '¿Qué cambios te gustarían que hacer...?'. I suspect that gustaría might be agreeing with the que hacer but would be grateful for some confirmation.

The traffic was busy this morning so I'll put my confusion down to that.

Bueno, contestando a tu pregunta "te gustaría hacer" se refiere a la persona o personas a la que se dirige la pregunta, por tanto no tiene que concordar con el plural de los cambios. Ejemplos:

• Como Ben es una sola persona tiene que ir en singular:

Marina pregunta a Ben - ¿Qué cambios te gustaría hacer? = ¿Qué cambios te gustaría hacer a ti?

• Si, por ejemplo tu nos hicieses la misma pregunta a Ben y a mi entonces si que tendría que ir en plural:

Eldeano pregunta a Ben y Marina - ¿Qué camios os gustaría hacer?

Espero haber aclarado tu duda y no te preocupes que todos nos equivocamos!!!
