Default Complimenting males in Spanish

May seem a silly question, but here goes anyway

I know 'guapo' means handsome...but is there other words you can use?

For example, in English you could say "Hello lovely" which I think translates to "hola encantador"...does that sound odd?

Any other complimentary words (plus translations) would be much appreciated!

If you don't know who Marina is, then you have to start listening to the podcasts. You'll learn that and so much more!

okay, so here it goes, i might be totally wrong, but my spanish teacher taught us a few ways to compliment someone of the opposite gender (guy in your case) and stuff like that, so i think you could say something like "hola guapo" instead of "encantador" i think that just seems a bit weird..lol

just do it in English...

I suggest "hey, you're one hot-lookin' son-of-a-gun... y'all got a girl-friend or what?"

then when he says "say what?" you can spend a happy hour explaining it all.

If you're gonna go around complimenting men you better try to keep the conversation on your own territory and in a language you understand!

I've never felt the need to tell some man he's good looking, not my scene!
Tell him "eres un cachas", "eres un mazas"

Nor do I really, but he's forever complimenting me, so I thought it'd be nice for me to sometimes return the compliments!

"esta bueno" means he's good looking, so might be said more about someone, but you could say "estas muy bueno" if you want him to feel good about himself! i agree, Marina is required here... I can't remember all the compliments she throws my way... maybe it's been too long

(Only joking!)

Podrías traducir "Hello lovely" por "Hola encanto", aunque no se utiliza mucho, y puede sonar un poco pretencioso.

Otras opciones más usadas serían:
  • "Hola majo" - majo se le dice a una persona que es muy agradable o simpática.
  • "Hola guapo" - Si quieres hacer hincapíe en su aspecto físico.
  • "Hola amor" - con tu pareja.
  • "Hola cariño" - se usa con tu pareja o con alguien de tu familia.

Apparently you can also use "macizo" or "macizorro" as compliments to men.

Mi marido es de Venezuela y a el no le gusta "guapo" y prefiere la palabra, "apuesto." Me parece un poco complicado...depende mucho en de donde eres.
