Dating / meeting women in Spain

Hello…
I am curious to hear your dating stories from Spain http://www.spainexpat.com/images/smileys/grin.gif. How easy has dating been for you? Have you met lots of great women, only a few mediocre ones, etc.? Dating success and failure stories would be great to hear… as I am hoping on a good experience when I get there http://www.spainexpat.com/images/smileys/grin.gif. Where have you met women in Spain? How has being a foreigner helped or not helped? Are women very 'catholic' or more liberal and open-minded?

Sorry but I think you wont be successful,
spanish women are too intelligent for you.

Being able to speak some spanish would be a good ice breaker.

But I might be going out on a limb on that one.... :)

I have heard they love men who dress in sandals and socks. Makes em stand out from the Spanish men. :)

Then there are always both Montera and Casa de Campo in Madrid. He would also meet some very interesting "women" in Chueca.:o

I'm a Spanish woman and, hey, the suggestion about sandals and socks is SO good. Try that on your next night out in Spain! Don't worry if women run away from you, you'll always have la Casa de Campo ;)

my friend has been very succesful at a place he affectionately refers to as a puta-bar. It costs him a lot of money, but he now has a sort-of-permanent girl-friend! Look for a place with the word "club" in the name - that is apparently a clue.

But seriously:

There are a zillion nice girls in Spain. If you show some real interest in them they will probably be happy to go out with you. One way to meet them would be to take some Spanish lessons and sign on for some one-on-one conversational meetings.

Intercambios. They are singles nights in disguise.

Ow-ow, that's scary

jonk 23rd September 2008 02:05 PM

barely in disguise. lol. the intercambio scene is pretty blatant. i tried to set up an intercambio through a website and the chick did the typical dating thing .. give me photos etc. All I wanted was an intercambio!

I have met two intercambios so far and both have been nice but... they were nice. :)

But you have to make friends somehow! Maybe you will find that special someone, maybe you won't. But In order to start, you have to put yourself about a bit. It's better that staring a Spanish TV (well, ok anything is better than that) and you might get an education at the same time. Helcat advertises herself as looking for friends. Other want intercambios. Read Ben's book on the subject. Most people are quite nice and not mad axe murderers at all. Failing that, sign up for one of the English towns I go on about. Lots of friends right there.

WELL I HOPE YOU'RE ALL HAPPY NOW

oh yeah and I think sandals with socks works well too.
