When does one put them before the verb? When doe they go after?

There is a simple rule that you can use:

- you put the pronoun after the verb (attached to it - no hyphen) when the verb is an infinitive or a gerund.

E.g. Quiero conocerte; Estamos conociéndonos

- you put the pronoun before the verb (as a separate word) in all other cases.

Obviously, when the infinitive or the gerund are part of a periphrasis, you can put the pronoun before the auxiliary verb.

E.g. Te quiero conocer; Nos estamos conociendo (these would mean exactly the same as the above sentences. It is just a question of personal preference).
