I'm 75% Spanish..(my mom is a pure blooded spanish.. and my dad also has it but also has a hindu blood.. i was brought up here in the Philippines..) hehehe.. i want to learn the language as well as learn my heritage.. i enrolled at Instituto de Cervantes to learn.. and i know that being part of this community will help me furnish my skills.. hehe right now I'm at the begginer stage, aside from English and the native language here which is Tagalog(very close to Spanish that's why it's really easy to learn the language) I can also speak Japanese...

I hope you can give me guidance... thank you...

Welcome Patsy - enjoy the forum and I'm sure you'll get all the help you need. That's an impressive list of languages!

A suggestion for your English:
as well as learn about my heritage.. I enrolled at Instituto de Cervantes to learn.. and I know that being part of this community will help me improve / add to my skills..

Hi Patsy, and welcome to the forum!

I''ve got a question for you right away. Is Tagalog a mixed language with lots of Spanish loan words in it? A while ago, we discussed Creole (mixed) languages on this forum and being from the Philippines, you might find this interesting:

Ciao and have fun on the forum.

Thanks! yep Tagalog is mixed with lots of Spanish loan words ... I guess this was because the country was colonized for 300 years and during those times they really have to speak the language , we got most of our words from it.
