I read the English version a couple of weeks ago and I really enjoyed it!
I think I'll be giving the Spanish version to my mother as a Christmas Present.

I really enjoyed the book too. After the interview with Chris Stewart right here on in the podcast section, I decided to re-read it. It takes some real pioneering spirit to settle in a remote region like Chris and his wife did!

Brian...Gracias por el "link" .. la critica es muy interesante.

¿Has leido el segundo libro de Chris Stewart que se llama "Parrot in a pepper tree"?

Estaba de vacaciones en andalucia este año y leí el libro. Me gustó mucho.

Tambien me gustó el podcast contigo y Alan. Ya visitaba Gandia y Altea dos veces y voy a visitar Valencia el año que viene.

I have just returned from a 10-day holiday in Croatia where I read both books by Chris Stewart "Driving over Lemons" and "A Parrot in the Pepper Tree".

They were wonderful to read! Not just entertaining, but also very informative.

Kind of reminded me of Peter Mayle for his books on Southern France and Bill Bryson on his books about the U.S. (In December 2006, Bill Bryson was named an Officer of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire for his contribution to literature)

Now I wonder if there are any books out there, written by British authors, on their experience in settling down in Germany? I love the British way of writing about other cultures.

Default Me too.

I'm reading the third of Chris Stewart's books at the moment. Well actually I'm at work- but I think it's called the Almond Blossom appreciation society. He certainly is a good read and a rarity it would seem when it comes to books about living in Spain. I don't know what it's like elsewhere but in Tasmania a few years ago we seemed to be overly well endowed with books about life in Provence when an even more overwhelming avalanche of books about Life in Tuscany hit us. If I see another book about Tuscany in a book shop I'll be doing my impersonation of the firemen in Fahrenheit 451!!

Bloody Hell Margaret! I don't believe it-another sodding book about Tuscany! (To paraphrase Victor Meldrew).

Thanks for pointing this one out - I was not aware of a third book. I am looking forward to reading this one as well!
