I'm thinking of investing in my first digital camcorder. My interest is primarily to record family events to email to family and to post some short video blogs (informational messages) online (maybe even a post in Spanish on NIS!). I also think I would like to record to an SD card rather than a DVD. Any recommendations? And is a $200 - 300 budget too low?
Do they all connect to computers by USB? Will I need to buy additional software for editing purposes? Any help you can offer would be greatly appreciated! |

I saw some really good ones today that I hadn't noticed before, they are called "hybrids".
They have a internal hard disk of around 40-60GB plus a slot for SD(HC) cards. Others have just a SDHC slot for up to 16GB. I think your budget is low but not impossibly so. If you have Windows, I suggest you buy Pinnacle Studio editing suite. It's a little expensive... but... buying an older version number from ebay will save 90%. I have Pinnacle Studio 9 and it cost me about $20. |
