Well, I'm sure I'm not the only one on tenterhooks.
Is there a prize?

On the subject of the football, does anyone know when the fixtures for next season are released in Spain?

As I am now contemplating life with Boro in the Championship (Boxing Day vs Scu nthorpe anyone !! ), I thought I might try to cheer myself up by planning to go to some of the fixtures for Mallorca next season.

PS Why does the site keep putting astericks when I try writing Scun thorpe as one word ?

COMPETITION RESULTS

I thought I'd bring everyone up to date on the NIS la liga predict-a-position 2008-9 as the author of this thread CAN'T BE ARSED.

It was a tight competition between myself and yunouguaramin but at the end yunouguaramin just pipped me. Congratulations to a worthy opponent and worthier winner.
The final positions were:

yunouguaramin 52
tad 56

eldeano 129

Congratulations yunouguaramin

No surprises that the (some might say) bizarre selections of eldeano gave him an (exceedingly) distant third place.

Talking of football commentaries, did anybody hear the guy on RNE after the Messi goal in the Champions this week - I think he is still shouting "golgolgolgolgolazogolgol" even now! Excellent listening.

I see Barca have drawn the Gooners in the next round - so he's probably going to get the opportunity to do it again !!

How much would Barca's fans like to win the trophy in the Bernabeu? I read in El Mundo Arbeloa the former Liverpool player now at RM, say it would be very hard for the RM players and fans to stomach.

I suppose that Perez, as presidente of the host club, would have to be present for the final and would be very unhappy, especially as he spent so much money for his team to be there. Heads are a-going to roll.

Talk in Spain now, after his amazing display yesterday, is wether Leo Messi is the best ever footballer of all times or the is just the best right now.

I think he is the best in the world right now, it is still too early to say the best ever (yet he is only 22!!!) but the lad if he keeps it up is surely on his way.

Him and Cristiano Ronaldo are surely the two most decisive players in the world today, so the coming Clásico (Real Madrid vs. FC Barcelona) is going to be some serious business, especially with the table being so tight between those two teams, the outcome of El Clásico will give us this years Champion, should that game not end in a tie.

Watch Messi's yesterday performance. Unbelievable. I pity the Zaragoza defender in his second goal, the poor fella almost dislocated his hip, for heavens shake!!. Brilliant also his moves inside the box when he was awarded a penalty at the end of the game.
