I need to send some letters/postcards back home to the States. I have no idea where to buy stamps, post letters, or anything. Could someone help me please?

Stamps can be bought at any estanco (Tobacconists) and there are lots of yellow post boxes around. They have a picture of an old post horn on them.

As of the first day of 2009, which is normally the day of each year when Spanish postal rates are annually set, the postage stamp rate for a letter or postcard weighing 20 grams or less was ...

For postage rates on heavier items attendance at a convenient “Correos” is required.

As already stated, postage stamps to the face value of 0.32, 0.62 and 0.78 Euros can be purchased from either a Correos (Post Office) or Estanco (Tobacconists) ... while a Spanish Public Post / Letter Box looks like this ...

One point that affects Spain to UK mail, so probably US as well. The low rate 20gm is only for standard shape and size envelopes. At Xmas they would not even accept the very small cards so we had to put them in DL envelopes and try again. You can of course risk it and put pre-stamped ones in the box

Thank you everyone! My town is currently shut down due to its annual festival (very fun!) so I am going to try after the festivities are done. I hope my Spanish doesn't fail me...

Yes, also you will have to pay extra to send mail in coloured envelopes. This is something to do with the automatic sorting system that will not recognise them, subsequently, they have to be sorted by hand.

You're going to school in Spain, right? Your school may have a post office on campus... my friend mailed a postcard from post office at our school and it cost her less than a euro.

I can´t remeber exactly, but I do remember it was almost double the original price, so be careful. But as Greytop says, if you posted it stamped in a postbox you would probably be ok

I think I will test it out with an unimportant letter first. I will post the answer here!

I'll try a post copied from Fawlty's link - but it's a table so maybe not very good

INTERNACIONAL ** PENÍNSULA Y BALEARES
.................................ZONA 1 ZONA 2
...............................UE No UE
Precio final
Hasta 20g. normalizado 0,62 0,62 0,78
Hasta 20g................. 1,07 1,07 1,38
Hasta 50g................. 1,29 1,29 1,66

I took a risk with a slightly colored envelope. (They were these cool fold-and-mail wonderwoman ones from the MoMA!) It worked out just fine with a 78 cent stamp on it!
