Default UK Benefits Abroad

Let's hope that anyone cheating the benefits system, in the UK and abroad, is now put under much closer scrutiny. A few years ago I met a British man in my local Spanish bar who took great delight in telling me how he had been living in Spain for years, claiming UK invalidity benefit fraudulently. Fortunately I only saw the thief a couple of times.

Incidentally, there is now a Free Phone Number to report these 'people' to the UK authorities. 900 554 440

I'm with you Fawlty !

Whilst I write several articles assisting British expats to (legally) apply for UK benefits in Spain, I am pretty disappoined away by the way that it often seems to be those in most need who are turned away from State benefits, whilst there are thousands who are allowed to continue to defraud the system.
