Hi, in what context do you mean? I think that if you wanted to say "I wonder if....." then it would be " me pregunto si.... " but just as a stand alone statement like "hmmm I wonder" then i'm not sure.I will think about it and let you know if anything springs to mind.

Ps. "I wonder why...?" would be "¿me pregunto por qué...?"

Hope this helps !!!

As a transitive verb
wonder [ask oneself]: preguntarse
I wake up in the morning and I wonder ... = Me despierto por la mañana y me pregunto ...
wonder [be amazed]: sorprenderse
I wonder he didn't notice it = Me sorprende que no lo notara.
As intransitive:
wonder [marvel, be surprised]: maravillarse
I wondered at the gifts = me maravillaron los regalos
wonder [ponder, speculate]: preguntarse, preguntar, pensar, especular, (nada)
Why do you ask? Oh, I just was wondering = ¿Por qué preguntas? Por nada / Preguntaba por preguntar / Nada más pensaba

I've found that there are two ways to saying "I wonder" in conversation:

1) Me pregunto si... (meaning, "I wonder if" literally "I ask myself if")

2) This way always feels a little odd saying, but using the future tense in a question can be used to express wondering. For example to say "I wonder where they are" would be "¿Dónde estarán?".

Hope that makes some sense.

It does, indeed.

The future simple as a marker of doubt, estimation or inaccuracy:

Serán como las siete y media de la tarde.
Tendrá unos 30 años.

When used in a question it expresses the same doubtful speculation of "wonder":

¿Dónde estarán ahora? (I wonder where they are now)
