Smile Numpty en Varsovia

I've just been told that I've got to go to Warsaw for a few days on Monday week. I know very little about the place - can anyone enlighten me?
Dziękuję

I can start you off by confirming (I'm sure it was on your mind) that Warsaw and Coleslaw are completely different things. Whether that's enough to get you on your way, I don't know.

Hope this helped.

I spent a weekend last year in Warsaw, but it turned out to be a party weekend with the lads so I'm afraid I cannot enlighten you so much.

I stayed at the Bristol Le Meridien Hotel (Starwood) which I highly recommend. It was superb and conveniently placed in the main road of Old Warsaw. Pretty close to the Royal Castle and the Old Square (I don´t remember the correct name of the Square, it is that one that was complety rebuilt in the 50's brick by brick and taking old pictures of the original square -which was absolutely destroyed in WW2- as a reference).

Nightlife is good (at least for a weekend). There is a number of posh upscale trendy restaurants which later turn into night clubs with a really lively atmosphere. Food in those place is not something to dream about, but like I said, the atmosphere is good.

The city itself didn´t seem to have a remarkable spot but it felt nice to stroll by the old part of the city towards the 'Tower of the Palace of Culture' which was a 'gift' (ejem... more like a reminding Big Brother it seems to me) from the Russians to the Poles in the 50's. It is a colossal, demential tower in a Russian gothic style which has a viewing rooftop deck with a great panoramic.

Anyway, I enjoyed Warsaw, although I spent only three days.

Have fun and you tell us afterwards.

How come you get to go to all these places then - didn't you go to Spain on work duties as well? The best I get is to go to Stamford Hill to get a tube of super-glue

I can spend many happy hours thinking of ways to spend your hard(?)-earned money. In this case, it's all the EU taxpayers that are contributing. I like to spread the happiness around.

If anyone has stayed there, what the facilities were like, what I should know before I get there... that sort of thing.

Definitely ask about the new Marriott bed, with down comforters, designer duvets and fluffier pillows.

Most of them in the US include a continental breakfast. They are quite clean and well kept for the most part. The Marriott corporation is fairly large and probably Hilton's biggest competitor. They organize into several subdivisions such as Courtyard, Fairview and like 6 or more others but they are all pretty good. I believe they offer free wifi.

Jedna z lepszych (i pierwszych ekskluzywnych) restauracji w Warszawie, aż dziw, że jeszcze nie doczekała się recenzji. Zgodnie ze staropolska zasadą ktoś musi zacząć pierwszy. ...‎span.zzNumUsersFoundThisHelpful{display:none};spa n.zzNumUsersFoundThisHelpfulActive{display:inline} 0 out of 0 people found this review helpful.
