Gary, you'll be old one day. It's all this new technology, it confuses them. He's probably still got a wind up gramophone!

I timidly venture an answer, Vicente...

One of the playback options available within the iTunes application is the "Party Shuffle" which creates and plays back a randomized list of music from the larger library of music on your computer.

This thread topic is just a fun way to look into what other people are listening to (or watching) on their computers.

iTunes is a computer program that works on Windows XP, Windows Vista, and Macintosh computers. You can download it from iTunes.com

It will help with many things relating to music and other media files, including:

*Organizing music, audiobooks, tv, movies, and videos you already own, and creating playlists for more enjoyable playback.
*Recommendations for music (and other media) you may also enjoy, based on the music already on your computer, and your listening habits.
*Synchronization of mp3 players, especially the iPod and iPhone.
*Easy access to the iTunes Music Store, where you can acquire or purchase media, including games, applications, podcasts, and ringtones.

I noticed you have questions about the iPhone.
The total cost of purchasing an iPhone from Telefonica Moviles' Movistar, in my opinion, is hardly worth the benefit you may enjoy from the added technology it would bring to your life.

It becomes a better choice if...
*You are not already a Movistar customer, and you don't owe any time on another contract.
*You have a very, very old phone that you are no longer satisfied with.
*You are already using an Exchange Server, or a .me or .mac account for email, calendar, etc.
*Your friends and acquaintances, or the people you would like to get to know better, are impressed only by the shiniest, freshest tech.
*You were going to buy an iPod soon, anyways.
*You know of some place in Spain that actually has open Wifi.

If you complete any 5 of those 6 criteria, you should buy the iPhone. Any less, and you have any doubts, don't buy it. Wait until you fulfill more of the criteria, by then the iPhone will be even better, and perhaps more affordable.

Not owning any gadgets named after fruit, what exactly is meant by the phrase: Synchronization of mp3 players, especially the iPod and iPhone?

Whilst this is true the more technical explanation is that when you click synchronise all the information on your computer is lined up with the information on your iPhone. So if you have added dates to your calendar, downloaded new podcasts, made notes, bought a new application, taken new photosdownloaded a TV show synchronisation makes sure that they appear both on the computer and tha iPhone and that they are up to date. Similarly if you delete a podcast from your computer it will be wiped off your iPhone too.

That is correlation, or even, similarisation ( a real word - at least in my profession) not synchronisation.

Some non-apple mp3 players can also be kept 'up-to-date' using the iTunes software.
Here's a list.
There are also a plethora of third-party agents that allow any player to be used.

Palm, Blackberry, Creative, Sony, and just about any gadget company known to man, all use the term "Sync" or "Synchronize" to mean keeping the data on the gadget correlated with the data on the PC.

Richardksa: Which profession?

Nights In White Satin - Deodato
Our Man Higgins - Lee Morgan
In A Little While - U2
Lovely Day - Bill Withers
I Don´t Want Nobody to Give Me Nothing - Grant Green

Clearly the U2 song is the odd one out in that list. A great tune, nevertheless.
