Yes but you cheated. Uruguay had already scored when you posted your prediction. Does your bookie not change the odds when a team scores?
I think 'cheated' is a little harsh as I admitted that Uruguay had just scored. Furthermore, as it was such an early goal I may have been tempted to go 3-1 or more. My bookie changes the odds all the time, whether a goal is scored or not, but we're not talking odds, just trying to predict the final score.

Trust me, getting the right score after 8 minutes of play is no mean feat for me. I could still get it wrong with only 8 minutes left to play!

Holland 3 Slovakia 1

Brazil 2 Chile 1
------

From FIFA's report of the game: "Meetings between these two sides often provide talking points and this one's came 60 seconds later when Lampard's shot from the edge of the box struck the underside of the crossbar and bounced down, with the referee ruling the ball had not crossed the goalline."

No mention that the ball was well over.

Gutted but we're rubbish.

Excellent photo Stephen !!

Glad you enjoyed the cricket Eldeano. I'm glad someone didnt waste their afternoon watching that drivel from the cream of our footballing talent.

I only hope that Argentina beat Germany next weekend so that my German neighbours can't spend 2 weeks gloating when I get to Mallorca.

Too late for the Holland score, but I'm going for Brazil 2 - Chile 0. Could have been a tighter game if most of the Chileans were not suspended!

No shocks yesterday but today's games could go any way. I have a sneaking admiration for the Japan team and think they could squeeze past Paraguay. As for the Iberian clash, I think it could be the game of the last 16 go to penalties. I wouldn't be surprised to see a fair bit of 'simulation' and the brandishing of coloured cards.

Paraguay 1 - 2 Japan
Spain 2 - 2 Portugal (Portugal on penalties)

Paraguay 2 - Japan 1
Spain 3 - Portugal 1

Think the Spanish will finally start to live up to their "pre tournament favourites" label. If they don't they be joining the long list of this year's Euro failures.

Japan 1 Paraguay 0

Spain 2 Portugal 1 (Ronaldo sent off for diving. The referee winks at Ronaldo as he produces the red card. Please. )

At least a good decent game for Spain in the World Cup. Not as brilliant as we were used to two years ago in the last Euro Cup under Luis Aragonés allright, but definately better than the much dissapointing group stage.

The second half was a beautiful example of the cult of footie monologue that the team is known for. Xavi and his associates hold the ball passing it over and over, showing it to no one while the opponents are made to run uselessly after it.
This model is entertaining to watch although it needs to have a vertical reference at the front, otherwise it'd be a futile exercise of onanism and Torres seems not to fit for the task so far.

The Spaniards had an answer for that - they rarely gave him the ball

It's like watching Arsenal? Except an unfit Torres is better than a fit Bendtner.

Today's game
Walldavia 2 Ruritania 1 aet
