Default Very sad news about Edith

Unfortunately I received some very sad news about Edith by email today from a friend of hers. He says:

Quote:
"Edith told me about the forum and the possible trip to Madrid.
Unfortunately I have som very sad news. Edith passed away on sunday 22th of March. She suffered a lungemboly and it happened very quickly."
Edith was one of the founding members of this forum, and has been a lovely, consistent, helpful member and moderator ever since the start. Though I never met Edith - she was due to come to Madrid to meet us this summer - she was without doubt perhaps the friendlyest, most open, honest, and positive of all the thousands that have passed through this way.

She will be hugely missed here. All I can suggest is that you take time to look at some of her wonderful photos, that she posted so often in the photography thread here in the forum.

They are a testament to her love of life. What a terrible terrible shame.

Thanks for that very sad news Ben. Her passing will leave a very big hole in the forum and I will miss her beautiful photos of the Dutch wildlife and plants.
RIP Edith - glad to have known you even in cyber space

I am shocked more than I imagined. Edith has been part of our lives for so long she will be missed terribly. I loved to look at her photos and her insights into the languages and cultures of others were quite profound.

It's spooky but I was only thinking about Edith the other evening when reading the thread about missing forum members. She had been such a regular and informed forero (forera?) that I had noticed a distinct recent drop off in the number of her posts.

I'm stunned by the news and will miss her presence on the forum. Thoughts are with her family and friends.

I was so looking forward to meeting Edith in Madrid this year. This is so sudden that words fail me.
She will be sadly missed as a calm voice of reason in our community

Me causa angustia comprobar como la vida de una persona tan vitalista e inquieta como Edith puede terminar de una manera tan repentina.
Echaré de menos su presencia siempre interesante en este foro.
Descanse en paz.

And yet the streets are filled with murderers and rapists and robbers. Makes you angry at times.

I am wondering if there is something we can do to immortalise Edith's photos. Maybe all pitch in to keep her Flickr Pro account around forever? I don't know. Something.

I am so sorry for this loss. Too many things have been happening in a bad/sad direction lately. I am new to this forum and I noticed her lack of threads and advice also. May her lust for life and its beauty stay with us. I wish her loved ones and her peace.

I can´t say anything better than what Ben has just said.

How sad, my best best best condolences to her family.

She was a wonderful wonderful person.

I am sorry I never met her in person but through this forum I really felt like she was part of the greater family.

I loved her photos and really looked forward to seeing them all the time.

Wow

In shock

I tend not to read the forum much nowadays, so an added shock to find this as the first post I looked at. Can't really add anything to that already posted here, she will indeed be missed.

Such sad news. RIP Edith, you will be missed a great deal.

I'm relatively new here on the forum, but I too loved her wonderful photos and will miss seeing them, and other posts of hers, a lot.

This is very sad news indeed.

She used to come across as a genuinely nice and level-headed person and her posts were a pleasure to read, especially with her excellent english.

She will certainly be missed.

Stunned...I'm stunned
This is a truly horrendous loss.
Edith continually surprised, amazed and inspired me with the depth and breadth of her passions, her insights, her empathy and her curiosity.
Without her we are less; you were a treasure Edith.
My deepest condolences to her family and friends.
