Try advertising in the Heraldo de Aragón. They have an office on the Paseo de la Independencia and you can put an advert in there for about €10 a week I think.
Also, try advertising yourself on loquo.com, I'm sure if its widely used for Zaragoza but its worth a try. |

Ben said that September is the best time to find work in Madrid teaching English. I plan on moving to Spain in January, in very much the same way that Mateo did/is doing. I was planning on finding work teaching English as well. Is January a bad time for this? Should I move my flight up a few months to September? What are your thoughts/experiences with finding work at different times of the year?
Oh, and how much of the job/flat-hunt can I do before I leave? |

Interesting thread... I'm going back to college this fall, and I'd love to take classes in Spain at some point (having never been to Europe.) Teaching English in Spain sounds like a great opportunity, since I haven't exactly mastered the Spanish language yet. Any advice on where to start, as a young, inexperienced college student, if I should eventually visit Spain? Who knows, I might fall in love with it and leave the states behind. Teaching English sounds like a great place to start, at any rate..

So basically finding work teaching English is relatively easy in the big cities?
My Spanish is intermediate low, I'd want to be advanced or basic fluency before I did anything like this, would it give me an advantage? |

In theory you can teach English without speaking a word of Spanish (that is the TEFL/CELTA theory so that teachers can teach classes of mixed nationalities without knowing all the students mother toungue). I don't think it is all that important in getting a job, but can't do any harm at all.
And yes, it's much easier in the big cities! |

If you want to hear incongruous accents go to Stowell Street in Newcastle's Chinatown and marvel at some of the gorgeous Chinese waitresses speaking in pure Geordie!

Thanks for the helpful information. It is not only interesting it also will be of great help if people are going to visit Spain with the working purposes.

Hi,
I am interested in teaching English in Madrid and am planning to move there in January. I know that the best time to come to Spain to look for teaching jobs is September, but is it possible to get any teaching job in the beginning of the year? (I have CELTA, 4 months post CELTA teaching experience, a degree in ELT from my home country and speak fluent Spanish) Thanks, Oksana. |
